2019 Conterno Cantine Nervi Gattinara 750Ml Bottle

Gattinara became a DOCG in 1990, but due to its size and historical inaccessibility to the market, has largely been a region just for those in the know. Roberto Conterno (of incomparable Giacomo Conterno fame) was certainly one such insider, whose admiration of this tiny region led him to purchase the original producer in Gattinara, Nervi.

The vintage Gattinara, effectively the classico, is comprised of 4 key plots, Cassace, Garavoglie, Molsino and Valferana.  The wine is fermented and macerated in steel at controlled temperatures, for 20 to 30 days, followed by 30 months in large-format barrel.
