'Rich, dense, long and exemplary in this challenging vintage,
with pronounced aromas of ripe plum, mulberry, floral notes,
and hints of earth and smoke. The texture is concentrated
and surprisingly tannic. The grapes are from 1.5ha in the
heart of this marquee Mercurey premier cru.'

'Impressively pure and fresh, this poised red reveals polished
tannins—by far the most polished of the Chalonnaise reds—
and lilting, mouthwatering acidity. The structure has resolved
significantly since I tasted it last November. Sweet spices
from the 30 percent new oak lead the nose with the vinous
palate backfilling with black currants and black plums. Traces
of crushed graphite mingle on the finish. This 2.5-hectare plot
of gray marl soils reminds Jérôme of the salinity of Corton.'
