'A blend of 61/13/12/8/6% cabernet sauvignon/merlot/cabernet franc/malbec/petit verdot from vines planted at this historic site from 1969–2000. A bright crimson purple. A wonderfully complex and perfumed bouquet redolent of blackcurrants and wild blackberry together with new pencil box shavings, sweet spice and crushed violets. Medium bodied, in the best sense of the term, with the fruit, oak and seamless tannins coming together as one. It may not be the most long-lived Yeringberg ever, but it will provide an enormous amount of enjoyment over the next 10–15 years.' 97 points. Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion

'Soft and savory aromas of blackcurrants, licorice, Asian spices, dark cherries and violets. The palate is medium- to full-bodied with finely tuned tannins and focused acidity that lead to a bright and plush mouthfeel. A soft, bright wine from a cool vintage that is constructed with a soft hand.'
163 Years Young: YERINGBERG in the Form of Its Life
Yeringberg began with the 1974 with new plantings after a break of about 50years.
These wines from the 70's are most probably in fine form, the wines from the 80's certainly are! I tastes a 1988 recently (one of Guill's favourites) and it was sublime, not a massive wine, but one for fine, complex and stauesque in its own way. I love this Cabernets and it should be in all great cellars.
Cheers, Randall
Yeringberg is in fabulous form. Under Sandra and David de Pury, the wines have never been more beautifully balanced - structured yet supple, and so ageable (almost indestructable) an outcome borne of absolute trust in site, old vines, method and intuition. Embracing the realities of climate change, and a vulnerability to phylloxera, Sandra and David have introduced new plantings on rootstock while refining vineyard orientation to safeguard the estate’s longevity.
