The Cooinda Vale Vineyard is the original Pooley site, just outside Campania about 10 kilometres north of Richmond. It was here in 1985 that Denis and Margaret Pooley planted their first ten rows of Riesling along with seven rows of Pinot Noir. The Cooinda Vale Riesling will be a selection from the most elevated site on the property. Like all the Pooley Rieslings, the new Cooinda Vale is whole-bunch pressed and matured on fine lees for five to six months over winter. But unlike the Butcher's Hill, the Cooinda Vale is matured in stainless steel - which makes for a compelling comparison between the two!
