"Surprisingly deep and brooding, initially a bit reserved, and the first impression is of the powerful tannic grip and structure. In the end, one is suffused with a lovely dark mulberry fruit on the palate with hints of earth and violets. The grapes are from 0.19ha of very old vines in Mazoyères; half are fermented as whole clusters and the wine ages in cask. "The 2023 Charmes-Chambertin Au Mazoyères Grand Cru includes 40% whole bunch. This has quite an opulent bouquet with black cherries, bilberry, raspberry and sous-bois scents, perhaps the liveliest of the cuvées. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, a mix of red and black fruit and good grip. Black pepper and bay leaf season the finish. Excellent." 94-96 Points - Neal Martin, Vinous
