PRE-ARRIVAL: DUE EARLY 2027

Producer note: François Bertheau, who manages this 6.23 ha domaine (half of which is in villages-level vineyards), said in his typically understated laconic manner that 2024 "gave me my smallest harvest ever and I've been doing this for a very long time. My yields were off on average fully 60% though some parcels were even worse and some a bit better. It's ironic in its fashion that in 2023 the fermenters were so full that I had to carefully watch the temperatures to be sure that they didn't overheat due to the sheer volumes. However, in 2024 it was also necessary to watch the temperatures but in this case, to be sure that they weren't too low such that the fermentations stopped! I used no new wood during the élevage and the wines have surprisingly improved month by month. I think it's a vintage where the wines will drink well young as they're just so energetic and delicate that it won't be necessary to age them for an extended period first." Bertheau further noted that the 2024s would see about 20% new wood and reiterated that the wines are never fined or filtered.

Tasting note: A background note of herbal tea is present on the cool and airy aromas of mostly red currant, spice and rose petal. The racy and silky-textured middle weight flavors are notably more mineral-driven while delivering reasonably length on the moderately austere and slightly lean finale. The Bertheau Amoureuses has a history of aging well so this may flesh out in time. Tasted: Jan 10, 2026
