2024 Bannockburn Gamay 750Ml Bottle

94 points - Campbell Mattison, The Wine Front  This is a spicy, nutty, bunchy gamay. It leans heavily towards the savoury side of things, it’s whole bunch influence clear. Cranberry, red cherry, game, assorted roasted nuts and all those smoked herbs. There’s a tension to this wine, and a fine-sinew aspect. It’s an excellent example of the high-savoury style.

This small 1.4ha block is on 2014 roots grafted to gamay in 2019. It's  the first time we have offered this and its a mighty wine, not too fruity and not lollyish at all. It's a fruit-driven, deeply flavoured wine with some "Beaujolais-like" cab-mac characteristics, but also some spicy / peppery / graphite nuances not-unlike a Northern Rhone wine. It's darkly coloured, richly fruited, has nice tannins, good substance and great length.
