2022 Bendito Destino Amphora 750ml Bottle

This is bright light cherry red, fresh, textural, engaging, shimmering, fruity and delicious. It has more in common with fine firm and mineral pinot than any Spanish wine I've tasted so far. Mostly temprinillo and grenache, from the limestone-rich Fuentecebolla vineyard, harvested at night in the hot, low-acid 2022 vintage. Whole bunches were placed at the base of an amphora, topped with hand-destemmed fruit. A CO₂-rich, anaerobic environment triggered intracellular fermentation, aided by the vessel’s shape and porosity. After 41 days, the wine was pressed in a vertical basket press and moved to three second-fill Hermitage barrels. Malolactic occurred simultaneously with primary fermentation. Bottled after 24 months’ élevage, with a single racking.
