2021 Prinz Riesling Trocken ‘Le Coeur’ VDP AUKTION 750ml
Regular price $155.00The gold-capsuled 2021 Riesling trocken Le Cœur VDP. Auktion. Réserve is from the oldest vines in the centerpiece of the Hendelberg "premier cru" and cultivated on weathered slate soils with quartzite deposits. The grapes are crushed with the feet, then after the maceration for approximately 24 hours, they are pressed and fermented spontaneously. The young wine matures for a long time on the lees and is not released until three years after the harvest and then sold only via auction. The wine is clear, pure but also intense and represents the coolish vintage as well as the site characteristics expressed with delicate fruit aromas (of yellow plums, physalis) and the purity of saline notes of crushed slate and quartzite. On the palate, this is a rich, dense and generous yet elegant, textural and uplifted Hendelberg with well-bedded acidity and a distinctive mineral expression. The finish is long, stimulating and saline due to the crystalline acidity. This is an impressive wine and should be a role model not just for Fred Prinz but the entire Rheingau. 96 points - Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate
Riesling Le Cœur Auktion Réserve is harvested in the oldest, steepest, poorest parcel of the Hendelberg. It fermented with a pied de cuve pressed in the vineyard to capture vineyard rather than cellar yeasts.
