2020 Seville Estate Dr McMahon Pinot Noir 750Ml Bottle

From the same single site as the Reserve, planted in 1972. Just 50 dozen made. 100% of everything! 100% wholes bunches and natural fermentation; 100% barrel fermented and 100% new oak. Seville Estate has been making a 100% whole-bunch Dr McMahon Shiraz since 2010 and this is the first Dr Pinot; a tribute to the late, great Peter McMahon. A deep, bright crimson. A powerhouse of a wine that has loads of dark, morello cherry, star anise, cedar from new oak and dried roses from the whole bunches (which are present, but by no means totally dominate the wine). Densely packed on the firmly structured palate, with dark fruits and some black olive tapenade. Needs time – in a good way. This is really pushing the boundaries and I'd love to taste this again in 10, if not 20 years. 97 Pts - Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion
