The plots that go into this wine (Au Pelson, Plan de Gilbert, Les Rues and Les Graviers) are 100% from Chambolle Musigny commune, just adjacent to and east of the Route National. About 15% new oak is used here, giving a wine which is very bright, perfumed and supple yet with silky tannins. Strawberries and blueberries, with good intensity and density due to the deeper soil but the tannins are elegant. This is one serious red Burgundy! Some regional “bourgognes” taste more like villages wines and this is one for sure. This is now matured in 400lt barrels instead of the usual 228lt “pieces” to preserve a little more of the impressive fruit and freshness.
"A deeply pitched nose speaks of markedly ripe yet fresh dark berries and warm earth. There is good vibrancy ... This firm, serious and youthfully austere effort will definitely need at least some patience." - Allen Meadows, Burghound
