2017 Chateau Mont-Redon Châteauneuf-du-Pape 750Ml Bottle
Regular price $158.00 Sale price $143.00Deep glistening magenta. A complex, expansive bouquet evokes ripe red and dark berries, potpourri and smoky minerals accented by an exotic Moroccan spice quality. Shows impressive depth as well as energy on the palate, offering sappy black raspberry, bitter cherry and spicecake flavors; an undercurrent of juicy acidity adds lift and back-end cut. Finishes sweet, gently tannic and very long, leaving behind mineral, garrigue and cherry liqueur notes.' 95 points - Josh Raynolds, Vinous
Currently in something of a purple patch, Château Mont-Redon is firmly on an upward trajectory. Under the guidance of Pierre Fabre and his team, the estate is producing some of the most compelling wines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, particularly from its holdings in the cooler, northwestern sector.
Here, vineyards rooted in galets roulés, limestone and sandy soils yield wines that balance depth with clarity. The range spans classic red and white cuvées alongside the single-site Le Plateau wines, drawn from the estate’s highest, stone-laden plateau.
The classic red is led by grenache with support from syrah and mourvèdre, while Le Plateau Rouge—an even split of grenache and syrah—leans into a more structured, powerful frame. There is a subtle modern polish in youth, yet the wines retain their Southern Rhône identity and are built to age.
The whites are equally assured. The classic cuvée is raised in stainless steel, emphasising freshness and line, while Le Plateau Blanc—grenache blanc and clairette—is matured entirely in new oak. The 2024 release is a standout: layered, composed, and with a quiet authority that recalls fine white Burgundy.
