A ripe yet cool nose combines a plethora of spice and floral elements with those of plum, exotic tea and dark currant. The moderately dense and caressing medium weight flavors display focused power on the hugely long, balanced and strikingly complex finale. This is a seriously good Ech with the development potential to match. Allen Meadows, burghound.com, 93-96 points.
Mid purple colour. An intriguing nose, almost something vegetal. A rougher edge to the fruit in the mouth, from the barrel. Rich sweet strawberry fruit in between. From another barrel, softer, a little more volume, and some gas as this barrel had not been sampled for a while. In short, the Echezeaux was in a slightly grumpy mood and may very well improve on this performance after further elevage.
