PRE-ARRIVAL 2023 Bachelet-Ramonet Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru 'Les Grandes Ruchottes ' 750Ml Bottle
Regular price $215.00Quantities from Bachelet-Ramonet are minuscule, and the domaine does not send samples for review, so critic scores are rarely issued. Even so, the wines have a devoted following, look to the wine lists of the Côte d’Or and beyond, where they are favourites of local restaurateurs and sommeliers.
The Bachelet-Ramonet domaine was created in 1977, when the daughter of Claude Ramonet (of the famous Domaine Ramonet) combined her inheritance with the holdings of her husband Georges Bachelet. Claude's son kept the remainder of the vineyards and has continued making wines under the original Ramonet label.
Over four generations of family vignerons have cared for the estate's 13 hectares of vines, much of which was once part of the legendary Domaine Ramonet! The current custodian of the estate is Alain Bonnefoy, who married into the family and has continued the Ramonet tradition of making elegant, precise whites. The wines see 12-24 months elevage in barrel, Winemaking follows a classical model, supported by modern equipment: whites are matured for 14–16 months in oak, with around 20-25% new . Bâtonnage is employed to build texture, and all wines are vinified and bottled on site.
These wines are hidden gems (from some of the really great sites in Chassagne!). Bachelet-Ramonet is under the radar and the family is not good at promoting themselves so they are cheap! These are "on the money" - great quality, clean, tight, dense and great value. Cheers, Randall
