Nicolas Gauffroy took over 22 ha of largely old-vine sites (planted as far back as 1914) and after selling wines to negociants and other estates for years (and generations before that), he felt his 2019's were as good a place as any to start carefully bottling his own wines. He bought more tanks and more barrels so he had the luxury of ageing the wines for as long as the he and wine wanted, rather that rushing them them to sell. Enter Domaine Nicolas Gauffroy.
NB: His 1er Cru Charmes in Meursault is sandwiched between Lafon and Roulot, so he says the pressure is on to make something great!

100% Diam corks He grows and promotes trees, bees and shrubs in and near his vines throughout the whole domaine, and also has a family of sheep to help with control of grasses and weeds.

Is a dog-lover with 6 “lost-dogs’-home” rescue dogs 41yo with experience working across Burgundy domaines and also in the Southern Rhone and Corbieres.

In 2014 he started working with his father and in 2016 took over himself. Since then has been solidly working to make more wine from only his own organically-grown grapes and selling far to negociants.

He is an aligoté champion with ½ the domaine planted thus.

Wines are all fermented and aged in 225lt barrels for 15 months, followed by a “rest” in tanks before bottling.
