2023 Jean-Claude Marsanne AOC Saint-Joseph Blanc 750ml
Regular price $123.00 Sale price $114.00The Marsanne family, as their name attests, has a long and deep-rooted history in the northern Rhône, in particular around Mauves, the birthplace of the Saint-Joseph appellation. In 1920, current owner Jean-Claude’s grandfather, Jean-Pierre, became the first in the family to focus solely on vineyards—no easy task given the impossibly steep slopes of Mauves, where everything must be worked by hand and pickaxe.
"This blanc is befittingly made from only Marsanne, with subtle, but not shy notes of stony peach, orange blossom, and pear. I love it alongside Vietnamese food, hard cheeses, or baked fish in a sauce au beurre with herbs." —Jane Augustine
These vines were planted in 1990, 1995 and 2010 across .85ha on clay and granatic soils. Vinification sees fermnentation in tonneaux for 6 weeks before being racked to smaller barrels and aged for 11 months in 228L barrels.
