Regular price $255.00From younger vines of GG sites.
"Pungent farmy aroma. Redcurrant and cranberry fruit, on the tarter side of Pinot. Wonderfully savoury palate with clarity of fruit and a good deal of dried spice, and while it’s light in body there is still plenty of fruit intensity." 17.5/20 - Jancis Robinson
The Keller "Reserve" Spätburgunder is a meticulously crafted expression of Pinot Noir from one of Germany’s most revered addresses, blending cutting-edge, precision farming with Burgundian sensibility and discernment. This bottling reflects Klaus-Peter's and Felix's uncompromising pursuit of elegance with depth, offering a rare glimpse into the Keller's unfolding top-tier red wine program.
This wine is a cuvée drawn from the grand cru vineyards of Frauenberg and the 25-year-old vines of Morstein Pinot (with the 75-year-old vines reserved for the Morstein Felix GG, a VDP Auction wine). It carries Keller’s signature “Chambolle-like” silkiness and seductiveness, underpinned by fine, persistent tannins which emerge throughout the wine’s generosity and charm.
The 2023 Keller Pinots are beguiling, perfumed and silky, with impressive depth and concentration shaped by exceptionally low yields of just 18–27hl/ha which was the lowest Pinot yields ever recorded at Keller. Klaus-Peter and Felix used less whole bunch than in the warmer 2022 vintage, but the longer, steadier ripening season has produced wines of greater elegance and finesse, while still retaining substance and drive.
Around 15% new oak was used, with many of the older barrels sourced from DRC.
“...they are silky, elegant triumphs. This estate remains a lighthouse for German viticulture and winemaking, with a relentless curiosity and drive to make wines that are ever more precise and reflective of site. Bravo.” - Vinous.com
