2023 Sylvain Cathiard Nuit-St-Georges 1er Cru 'Aux Thorey' 750mL

This is also attractively perfumed and airy with its softly spicy nose of mostly red cherry and suggestion of newly turned earth. The silky, vibrant and stony medium weight flavors are not particularly dense but do possess excellent delineation on the youthfully austere, firm and impeccably well-balanced finale. This is lovely and very Thorey in character. Drink through 2033+.

Allen Meadows - Burghound

The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Thorey 1er Cru has an open and "airy" bouquet of red cherries, wild strawberries and wilted rose petal scents, and is not concentrated like the previous vintage but very focused. The palate is silky-smooth on the entry and the 60% new oak is just a little "vocal" at the moment, imparting a seductive lactic element toward the finish. That will be subsumed with time. Afford this modern-styled NSG three or four years in bottle. Drink 2027-2040.

A lighter crimson colour. There is some weight of ripe fruit on the nose, and significantly more on the palate than the village wines, with a depth of dark strawberry and raspberry. Adequate acidity and well tamed tannins supply the structure. Good length to complete the deal. Drink from 2030-2036.
