From various parcels of old vines planted between 1938(!) and 1987 with the family replacing single vines that die or are not in great shape. This has a little more richness, more firmness and more 'cut" than the Bourgogne, not surprisingly.
The 2024 Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge offers raspberry and dark cherries on the nose, with just a little herbaceousness in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly angular tannins but feels fresh and saline and should give four to five years' drinking pleasure.
86-88 points - Neal Martin, Vinous
A distinct pepper character adds breadth to the aromas of mostly red and dark currant. There is a bit more volume to the more refined, if not especially concentrated, flavors that display good length on the lightly rustic and dusty finale. This could be enjoyed young but I would suggest at least a few years of keeping first with the goal of adding better depth.
