2023 Hurley Vineyard Lodestone Pinot Noir 750ml
Regular price $90.0096 points, Five stars - Stuart Knox, The Real Review
Medium ruby red with purple tints at the edges. Fragrant raspberry, rose petals and cinnamon aromatics. Palate sits in a darker cherry spectrum with dried bay leaf and thyme notes over a smoked meat savoury undertone. Acidity lifts early then acquiesces to the fine gravelly tannins to finish the drive and tension to the end. A wonderful, deep and powerful pinot noir that will evolve further with time in the glass or decanter.
95 Points - Jane Faulkner, The Wine Companion
The warmest site on the property and perhaps one reason why the wine looks smart this vintage – a difficult one for reds on the peninsula, lots of disease pressure, lower yields and so forth. It’s a lighter Lodestone yet full of pleasing autumnal aromas with roses, ironstone and spicy, cedary oak. The barely mid-weighted palate is strewn with red cherries and almost-ripe raspberries, a little sweet-sour fruit, twiggy and smoky with a hint of charcuterie. The juicy bright acidity leads this to a fresh finish, fine tannins on the sideline.
